Memorial Day Weekend
The Brooks Brothers.
The Coal Miner's Jamboree is proud to announce that frequent blues festival performers The Brooks Brothers, will be performing Saturday evening, May 24, in a special Memorial Day weekend show @ 7.00PM. Brothers Carson and Cody Brooks play a diverse mixture of rockabilly, country rock and traditional blues. Thirteen year-old Carson plays upright bass and harmonica, while eighteen year-old Cody places electric Fender guitar.
"We're excited to be coming back to the area," says Cody. "I know between Oneida down in Tennessee and Whitley City, in Kentucky, there are a lot of blues and country rock fans who would really dig on what we play. Brother Carson adds " Yeah, we're kids, but we want to also pay homage to the great artists from Johnny Cash to Robert Johnson who have given us such great songs to sing."
Joining the Brooks Brothers on drums will be long-time Johnny Cash drummer, Hugh Waddell. "We're excited to work with Hugh again," added Cody. "We've played together a couple of shows and it was magical for us and the audience. This older drummer, jamming with us new guys."
“We’re proud to present these young boys, whose mother drives ‘em all over the country to play,” says Jamboree organizer Claude Davis. “This will be a special Memorial Day weekend for us, not only for having the music of these two talented kids, but also as we pay tribute to those who have served and died in the freedom of America.” Davis himself is a Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient
